Getting ready for a date on a spring evening

Spending time in Southern California has been so refreshing. Seeing palm trees along the freeways feels so glamorous. I have lived in many places and am a complete self-declared expert.

Okay, some things I love:

1.) The overwhelming healthy attitude. Almost every thing is organic. Stores like Trader Joe's and Whole foods are everywhere and because of that they are much cheaper and affordable. When someone takes me out I love it when they take me to a sushi bar (which are common unto Starbucks in my little town here). The dragon roll with Eel is my favorite. One last random thought, I have seen more than five people carry ginger root in their bags and a mini grinder to add to their drinks and food.

2.) Living two minutes from the Beach! I love my Sunday walks on the Beach. Running my two miles on sand without my tennis shoes. Late night dates walking the board walk. This is actually something I fell in love with in Italy but get to continue here in California.

3.) The much laid back attitude. No one is ever in a hurry and the people who are stand out like a sore thumb. I do appreciate this aspect of So Cal. Getting pulled over by police is almost like a joke. I have never seen it happen and I am confident that if pulled over you could easily talk your way out of a ticket.

4.) L.A. One of my favorite places in the world. I love movies and I love celebrity gossip. Rarely can I pass a People magazine and not pick it up. I love being so close to the heart of celebrity gossip. On January 13, Brooke and I are going to wait by the red carpet of the Golden Globes. I have been celebrity watching many times. I bought the cheap celebrity homes map and with my three sisters scout out celebrities and even 'wait it out' hoping to catch a glimpse. (a special love for those I have actually seen, Will Smith, Ben Stiller and Nicholas Cage!) I love Sprinkles Cupcakes and the must a Pinkberry!

5.) The Weather. I have struggled with this for so long. I really can't complain about the weather because it is beautiful. A constant 60 -75 degrees hardly seems worthy of complaint. I really do love this weather, the eternal spring. The other day I a familiar feeling; getting ready for a date on a spring evening. Wearing a flowery dress and ballet slippers and no stockings, there is something so fresh and so...free about the first bare legs of the season. Boys picking you up in short sleeves and flip flops. A feeling you experience in regions where actual season are distinct. This type of attire is always in season here. Getting ready for dates here always seem like this one distinct moment I have relished my whole life.

My next move: Provo or Manhattan. I am not sure which it will be but I am so excited that both have four seasons!
